Elon Musk found a “new CEO” for Twitter
Elon Musk announced on his Twitter account that a new CEO has been found and will lead Twitter in the coming weeks. Thus, Musk fulfilled his promise to step down from the position. After buying the company last year, Musk became CEO of Twitter. But he recently conducted a survey among social media users asking if he should step down from the position. The majority voted for Musk to leave the post of CEO, and he promised that he would find a replacement before the end of the year.
Musk said he would become Twitter’s executive chairman and chief technology officer, allowing him to oversee the company’s products, software, and system operations. Musk has faced criticism for Twitter’s policy changes and has also tried to poach advertisers who left the platform over fears of hate behavior and layoffs. In addition, it is promoting a paid subscription platform that includes the option to pay for a blue confirmation checkmark, but it hasn’t caught on much yet. Shareholders of Tesla, another company Musk is involved in, have expressed concern that his focus on Twitter is a distraction.
The new CEO should breathe new life into Twitter, which has struggled in recent years. Musk has spent $44 billion to acquire the platform, and the new CEO should help him recoup some of that investment. While Musk will likely still have significant control over the company, his decision to step down as CEO suggests that he is aware of the criticism he has received and is willing to make changes to improve the platform. According to the Wall Street Journal, Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s head of advertising, could lead Twitter.
